Controls

Controls (industrial motor controls) in the broadest sense of the term encompasses the different methods used to control an electrical system’s performance. With reference to industrial machinery, it involves the start-up, acceleration, deceleration, reversal and stopping of the motor and the applied load. Here, we take a look at the electrical control of single-phase and three-phase systems.

An electrical control system is a physical interconnection of devices that influences the behavior of other devices or systems. A simple electronic system is made up of an input, a process, and an output. Both input and output variables to the system are signals. Examples of such systems include circulation pumps, compressors, manufacturing systems, refrigeration plant and motor control panels.
